UP 25624

UP 25624 was sold to John Larkin, while the caboose was stored in the old MP yard in Omaha, Nebraska, among 200 other cabooses; UP 25624 was moved to the Iowa Interstate, then moved again to the Missouri Central Railroad (MSCI) at Union, Missouri near St. Louis, when that railroad was purchased by Mr. Larkin; the caboose was moved to Iowa Northwestern (IANW) in 2001 when Mr. Larkin sold his interest in MSCI and purchased the Iowa Northwestern; in occasional service as IANW 25624; painted green with a cream-colored band, without lettering; currently stored, available for sale or lease. Another report has 25624 as having been sold to Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad at Fremont, Nebraska, on May 3, 1999. A report from December 2002 had UP 25624 sporting MSCI reporting marks, and being located at Council Bluffs, Iowa.

During January 2012, UP 25624 was being offered for sale at auction.

(Information from Roger Kirkpatrick, and from John Larkin via email dated July 13, 2011)

(Union Pacific records show, in error, that UP 25624 was donated to Baker City Chamber of Commerce, Baker City, Oregon. This was actually UP 25627, which was later reported as being used to advertise the Sumpter Valley Railway tourist train.)
