The reports of the ICC began with Volume 1, dated May 1887 to June 1888. They continue to the present time [1983], with Volume 367, and contain cases for claims and complaints against carriers subject to the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887, with all of its amendments.

The ICC existed as an agency of the U. S. government from February 4, 1887 to December 31, 1995.

C. W. Scofield was involved in a rate case for petroleum products between Cleveland points outside of Ohio.

Partners with William C. Scofield, Daniel Shurmer, and John Teagle in the firm of Scofield, Shurmer and Teagle.

ZCMI complained of overcharging for a 38,272 pound shipment of 100 bales of denim cotton goods from Winchendon, Massachusetts to Salt Lake City, via Boston-Chicago-ATSF-Pueblo-D&RG/D&RGW-Salt Lake City. Freight charges for the shipment were $1,114.39 ($2.91 per 100 pounds). They stated that the freight for a shipment of the same commodity between Chicago and San Francisco was $1.95 per 100 pounds, more distance at less cost. ICC denied the claim. (pp.106, 122)

Volume 4 (Jun 1892 to May 1895)

UP petitioned for reduced wage schedules while in receivership. Applied January 27, 1894, petition denied. (4 ICC 619)

UP leased all of its telegraph lines and properties to the Atlantic and Pacific Telegraph Company "for the full period of its corporate existence" on September 1, 1869 and again on December 20, 1871. On July 1, 1881 UP (consolidated) "surrendered" its telegraph lines to the Western Union Telegraph Company, as successor to the A&P company. (4 ICC 707)

D&RGW to abandon 6.78 mile portion of Little Cottonwood Branch, between Sand Pit and Wasatch, Finance Docket 10077, approved September 6, 1933. Built as narrow gauge in 1873, operation discontinued in 1899, relaid as standard gauge in 1913, daily service until 1917, irregular service (2-3 times a week) until 1923, only occasional trips made after 1923, with 2 trips made in 1932 and none in 1933. No carload shipments of ore made since 1930. Granite building stone loading furnish "considerable" traffic, but all building stone now moves by truck. No service on branch since June 1932.
